Blythewood South Carolina (commonly misspelled Blythwood) has become a popular location for real estate agents, investors and buyers since the beginning of the millennium.  Blythewood is a highly desired area for most homebuyers looking for a little extra land for sale with their estate.  The drive into the City of Columbia from Blythewood is just a few minutes on I-77 South.  With the Columbia SC real estate market expanding beyond the city limits of Columbia, it has undoubtedly brought regeneration for real estate investors and new homes for sale.  The Blythewood real estate trend has traditionally contained large lots, acreage and horse farms.  Somehow Blythewood has managed to become an exclusive community from the typical real estate developments of tract builders.  Once you move closer into Columbia and the Northeast you will find them more common.  Take a drive through Birch Springs, Camarie Farms, Lake Ashley, Longcreek Plantation or even down Persimmon Fork Road, and you will get an idea of how historic Blythewood neighborhoods have established this community.

The Town of Blythewood has been able to influence community members to annex into "The Town" for multiple reasons. One of the major reasons is so that the Town of Blythewood can control growth.  This has had a major impact on the Blythewood real estate market.  The positive reputation of Richland County School District 2, and the lack of traditional high-density real estate developments, has also helped keep this area stable.  There is also plenty of support and a generous population of well-known corporations that call Blythewood home.  This includes companies such as Coca-Cola, Bose, Computer Sciences Corp., and soon Google is going to place their stake in Blythewood.  Many executives, employees, and vendors have been able to find Blythewood homes for sale that suits their needs.  There are a many neighborhoods that offer golf, tennis, swimming, horseback riding, fishing and other activities.  Many of them are self-contained within the confines of the neighborhood.

Most of Blythewood is located within Richland County, although there is some overflow into Fairfield County.  The main differences between the counties are the school districts.  Richland county schools are constantly improving and new construction of elementary, intermediate and high schools are constantly in ongoing in Richland County.   Blythewood High School is the newest of the 4 high schools that are within the district as of 2009. The newly built Blythewood High School has already had great publicity for the way that the students were involved in the construction and design, and it continues to have a good athletic and academic system.  Inversely, Fairfield County has had very little development in the school system.  Fairfield Central High School has stood alone as "the" high school for the entire county for decades.  Both of the counties have a good relationship with each other.  What Fairfield County may lack in educational funding, it makes up for in beauty and availability of larger tracts of land and acreage.
