Wren Creek Blythewood
Wren Creek Blythewood
Wren Creek is a neighborhood located in Blythewood SC near I-77’s “Blythewood Exit 24” interchange (Hwy 21, not to be confused with the Blythewood Road Exit 27). Geographically, when looking at an aerial view, the neighborhood is split down the middle of Wren Creek Drive. Wren Creek Drive runs from the entrance at Turkey Farm Road up to the neighborhood’s traffic circle and is where the swimming pool and clubhouse are located.
On the left side of Wren Creek Drive is the original phase. This is the “Wren Creek” side of the development. The 1st phase, as you immediately enter Wren Creek, was developed around 2005 as a custom-built home neighborhood with modest-sized homes around 3000+ SF. The terrain is a rolling topography with a mix of vegetation. Some of the properties have frontage on a small creek (Beasley Creek Branch) that is flanked by a string of mature hardwood trees that remain due to the wetlands preservation. The interior lots are mostly cleared lots although not all of them are bare.
In Wren Creek, there are a variety of home styles that are well suited for buyers that are financially able to purchase homes above the average price for Columbia’s real estate market. As with a lot of developments, the real estate crash (2010) restructured the home builder's ability to carry large loans, low sales volume, and hefty interest payments. As a result, regional and national builders acquired real estate developments and it's not surprising that Wren Creek took a shift from custom homes to higher-end production building.
