Earlewood Columbia SC
The Historic Earlewood Neighborhood (also known as Earlewood or Earlewood Park) is a Downtown Columbia SC neighborhood bordered by; the Broad River on Earlewood’s western side, Elmwood Park on the South, and Cottontown and Main Street on the east.
Earlewood is a seasoned residential neighborhood that is known for practical 2-3 bedroom homes. In the beginning of the 21st century, during the real estate boom, many of these homes were upgraded from their basic 3-bedroom 1-bath floor plans to accommodate housing trends of 3-4 bedroom 2 bath homes. But on almost every street block you’ll see homes that have remained unchanged since the new construction that began around the mid 20th century. Most of the homes in this area were built as a “Bungalow”, which is a common element for Columbia SC neighborhoods. This is mainly due to the relatively warm climate and the homeowner’s need to remain comfortable outdoors. Earlewood is also home to one of downtown Columbia’s largest parks. It encompasses nearly 50 acres of rolling hills and forestry. In Earlewood Park you will find typical park-like amenities such as walking trails, playgrounds, tennis courts and ball fields.
New home communities in Earlewood include Laurel Hill and Canal Place. Both of these began around the beginning of the 21st century.
