Free PDF Software

If you are frequently sending and receiving files online it is important to know that your recipient has gotten your file correctly.  I have found that in the real estate business I am constantly sending listing sheets, tax maps, contracts, plats, and disclosures to clients.  Even other real estate agents expect a clean copy of a document when selling a home or land.   In any business that involves online document transfers you should have the basic tools to send a clear legible document through email.  Adobe Acrobat Reader has become the standard for viewing information online.  It is free software that can be used on any computer and is compatible with Apple and Windows based computers.  This software is used to view documents whereas a PDF Writer is used to create one.  Adobe also sells Adobe Acrobat Writer, which is a great program, but a license-free(often called freeware) replica can be used with the same functionality.

CutePDF Writer is freeware that I have used for years to create PDF’s.  It installs as a printer on your system and will create a PDF similar to your printer’s hard copy.  So your image would look identical to the hard copy if you were to print something on a sheet of paper using your desktop printer.  The only difference is that you will need to select “CutePDF Writer” as your printer in the pop-up window that generates when you “File … Print” from your computer.  Just make sure you know where you save this file so you can retrieve it quickly.
