Our Top 5 Communities in The Northeast - Columbia SC

We recently posted a blog about our picks for the Top Columbia SC Neighborhoods and a list of the Best Neighborhoods in Blythewood so we figured that it was only fitting that we cover the area in between and break down the top neighborhoods in the Columbia Northeast. This area is encapsulated in the 29229 and 29223 zip code and consists of thousands of homes. This is also an area that is popular for those PCSing to Columbia SC's Fort Jackson Army Base, Health and Medical Professionals at Palmetto Health, and Blue Cross Blue Shield Employees wanting to be close to work.

These are several of Northeast Columbia’s most coveted communities. They range from Spring Valley, a pioneering development built in the 1960s to the newest developments that are wowing homebuyers.

Lake Carolina Neighborhood

  • Lake Carolina - This lovely lakeside resort community in Northeast Columbia offers a pleasing variety of home styles, sizes, and settings ranging from townhomes to large waterfront properties. You'll enter into Harborside, which is the community’s center providing a traditional small-town mix of sidewalk society, quaint homes and shops. Lake Carolina neighborhoods are connected to schools, pools, parks and each other by sidewalks, nature buffers and bike paths.

  • The Woodlands - Just across the street from Wildewood  on Sparkleberry Lane, this Northeast Columbia SC neighborhood features average priced homes, a golf course, nature trails, and close to shopping and Spring Valley High School.  The Woodlands is a great neighborhood and you can drive through and see pride in homeownership as you pass well maintained homes and yards. This is an ideal place for anyone wanting to amenities of a high-end neighborhood, without the high-end price.  Like every well-established development, you’ll likely find a fixer-upper home looking for sweat equity.

  • Spring Valley - This iconic country club community was the first, upscale residential neighborhood built in the Northeast area of Columbia in the 1960s. Built around a Championship 18-Hole Golf Course and Clubhouse, Spring Valley is known for its waterfront homes and large-acreage lots.

  • Wildewood - As Northeast Columbia hit its stride over the past 20 years as the fastest growing area in the capital city, Wildewood became one of its most popular communities for professionals. Wildewood features large, executive homes with beautifully landscaped lawns, swimming pools and tennis courts in gated communities

  • Rainsborough - The one Columbia Northeast neighborhood that may be the best well-kept secret, Rainsborough features mid-sized brick homes with landscaped lawns and lots of short street cul-de-sacs.  We really love this neighborhood, which is located off of Clemson Road across from North Springs Park.
