Olympia-Granby Columbia SC
Olympia - Granby
Olympia - Granby mostly known as Olympia is a Historic Neighborhood located right outside Downtown Columbia between Granby Ln, Huger Street, S Assembly St, and a small portion of Rosewood Dr. Olympia Mill and is historically known as a mill village where homes were built for mill workers that were employed at the local textile mills. Olympia is located next to the University of South Carolina’s Williams-Brice football stadium and is also adjacent to the SC State Fairgrounds. Olympia-Granby Mills began being developed in the early 1900s and homes are still being renovated and built today. Most of these homes you’ll find are “shotgun houses” and antiquated with old charm. You’ll find the lot sizes of these homes are about ¼ of an acre and the square footage starts very low. It’s not uncommon to find that most of the homes are 1000-1500 SF in size. But don’t be alarmed when you see a home that is as small as 400. Keep in mind, these homes were for mill workers. You’ll find most of these homes do not have garages or large driveways and are below average cost for Columbia.
It’s a gorgeous setting with large tree-lined streets, and nearby to the Congaree River, Granby Park and the Williams-Brice Stadium where all the University of South Carolina football games are held.
