Northeast Columbia SC Overview

Back in the 1960s, a visionary real estate developer broke ground on Spring Valley Neighborhood, the first upscale, residential community in an area just northeast of downtown Columbia on Two Notch Road (U.S. Route #1).  This two-lane road was locally known as, “the road that goes to Sesquicentennial State Park”, a popular recreational State Park destination in the heart of South Carolina’s Sandhills region. Locals treasure the 1,400 acres tract consisting of large pines, a recreational lake, multiple camping sites, and nature trails for biking and hiking.

Over the past 20 years, Northeast Columbia has grown quickly around and far beyond Spring Valley Neighborhood and Sesquicentennial State Park. Two Notch Road expanded to four lanes to accommodate the changing traffic patterns. New residential and business developments continue to break ground in ever-increasing numbers. The Northeast Columbia has certainly made a name for itself as a desirable place to live and work and continues to expand.  The overflow of growth spills over into more suburban and rural areas like Blythewood and Elgin.
