The award-winning town of Elgin, SC is conveniently located 24 miles northeast of the center of Columbia, the state's capital, and is one of the ten townships that makes up Kershaw County. Kershaw County shares a southern border with Richland County. Driving straight out of Richland County (Columbia) on Hwy 1 (AKA Two Notch Road) past Pontiac, you’ll soon be in Kershaw County and see signs for the town of Elgin. Continue along Hwy 1 for eight miles and you’ll be in Lugoff. About five miles further east, you’ll come to historic Camden, the county seat and largest city in Kershaw County. As a reference, If you’re driving out of Columbia towards florence, you’ll go through The Columbia Northeast then Pontiac, then Elgin, then Lugoff and eventually arrive in Camden. Elgin offers residents a suburban feel with easy access to the culture, attractions, and excitement of Columbia, South Carolina.

A short commute from downtown, this community features amenity-rich homes, championship golf course, nature trails, and acres of lake-front shoreline. Many of Woodcreek’s homes offer additional cost savings and energy efficiency resulting from their solid brick-front construction. Woodcreek is one of the most impressive new home communities in the Greater Columbia Metropolitan Area and the new home buzz has overshadowed competing neighborhoods like Wildewood and Spring Valley. But you'll need to understand that Woodcreek Farms is one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Elgin
This subdivision neighbors Woodcreek Farms and the main entrance is accessible off of Spears Creek Church Road. It is very similar to Woodcreek Farms but is much smaller and definitely has it’s own personality. Many of the homes for sale in Greenhill Parish are custom built craftsman, traditional and contemporary homes. The development also offers a lot of common areas and walking trails and evenly spaced home sites.
Catawba Hill Neighborhood is located in the Pontiac area of Elgin. It’s right off of Highway 1 and is an easy drive into Northeast Columbia. New homes for sale in Catawba Hill are typically 4-5 bedroom homes that are anywhere between 2500 SF to 4000+ SF. New construction home prices began under $300k at the time of initial sales. If you don’t want to stretch your budget into the higher-priced Woodcreek Farms or Greenhill Parish neighborhood price, then Catawba Hill may be a good alternative. Catawba Hill may not be the most outstanding or publicized neighborhood, but we figured that it was so close to the other neighborhoods that we needed to include it here.
Peach Grove Villas is on the Earth Road in between Spears Creek Road and Clemson Road. It’s a few hundred feet from the main entrance of Woodcreek Farms and is a gated all-brick patio home-style community. Peach Grove Villas is not classified as a “55 and older” community, it has all of the features that would fit into that category. Not many steps into the home and a layout that offers privacy, yet close enough to your neighbor in the townhouse and duplex(-ish) 1-level layout.
