Your Columbia SC Property Wish List

While your opinions on the type of home you want to own may change during the homebuying process, use this easy checklist to help you prioritize and make the shopping process less time-consuming.  Finding the best neighborhood in Columbia SC is specific for each home buyer.  Here is a checklist that you should use when finding a neighborhood in Columbia

  1. How close do you need to be to public transportation?  Is this a factor? Airports? Bus Routes?
  2. How close do you need to be to schools?  Which schools are the best schools in Columbia for you?
  3. How close do you need to be to an airport? Columbia Airport is closer to Lexington SC whereas Charlotte Douglas International Airport is a quick drive to Charlotte NC from Blythewood.  Are these factors for you?
  4. How close do you need to be to an Interstate Highway/expressway? Columbia is centered around I-77, I-26 and I-20.  We can go pretty much anywhere from here.  And I-95 is only an hour (or less) away.  Do you travel any of these often?
  5. How close do you need to be to neighborhood shopping? Lots of areas in Columbia offer neighborhood shopping.  Find out which area suits you best.
  6. Once you determine an area...which Columbia SC neighborhoods would you prefer?
  7. What school systems do you want to be near?  We have several School Districts in Columbia SC.
  8. What architectural style(s) of homes do you prefer? You won't find many basement homes in Columbia SC, look for a FROG.
  9. Do you want a one-story or two-story house?
  10. How old a home would you consider?  Thanks to General Sherman's march through Columbia, South Carolina burning everything in sight(1865),  you'll find that most of the homes for sale in Columbia are somewhat new.  Most of the homes in Columbia are from around the 1950s to the present day.  But check out this link if you want a brand new home in Columbia SC.
  11. How much repair or renovation would you be willing to do?  There are renovation loans if you're looking for a huge project.
  12. Do you have special facilities or needs that your home must meet?  If you need a handicap-accessible home, please let us know and we will do our best to find one for you.
  13. Do you require a fenced yard or other amenities for your pets?
