Blythewood SC Real Estate |29016

As a lifelong Blythewood resident, I have seen this area flourish throughout the years and become one of the most desirable areas in Richland County. With the expansion of Northeast Columbia 29229 real estate market, developers have had no choice but to cross into the threshold of Blythewood's 29016 zip code.  Seasoned neighborhoods such as; Longcreek Plantation, Lake Ashley Birch Springs and Crickentree have been greeted with newly developed subdivisions like Cobblestone Park, Ashley Oaks, Lake Carolina, Eagles Glen and Wren Creek.  Blythewood covers the outermost perimeter of Richland County along the I-77 corridor beginning at Highway 21 (exit 23) and ending near Ridgeway at the Fairfield county line (around Hwy 34 and Peach Road).  Exit 27, the Blythewood Road Exit, is the heart of the Blythewood Community.  Once deemed "The Country" by local commuters, Blythewood has managed to bring national interest to real estate developers and worldwide attention to corporations.  Blythewood will soon be a 2nd home to Google and currently houses prestigious companies like Bose, Coca-Cola, Computer Sciences Corporation, just to name a few.  With the influx of industry and with the help of Richland School District 2, homebuyers have acknowledged the quality and charm that Blythewood offers.  Land in Blythewood has been difficult to acquire and the modest prices reflect the supply.  Many long-time landowners have refused to break up their estates in order to maintain the farm-like setting that has been the signature for Blythewood for so many years.  A drive down Persimmon Fork, Muller Road, or Syrup Mill road gives a true representation of how Blythewood was 20 years ago.   The rural character that homeowners have struggled to maintain is transforming into a "New Blythewood" with all of the amenities of suburban living including several small business parks occupied by grocery stores, restaurants, banks and medical offices.  If you are seeking to be away from the lights and action of The City of Columbia but want to be a 10-minute highway drive to everything, you may want to consider Blythewood or the Northeast Columbia as an alternative.
